GBC Motorsports Takes 7 at 7
Now seven rounds into the 2012 GNCC series the talented riders of Team GBC Motorsports are really starting to hit their collective stride, once again putting in a fantastic weekend of competition in Masontown, West Virginia.
GBC’s top performer was once again BNR’s Kevin Yoho, earning a 7th place position in the highly contested XC1 Pro class. Bryan Cook returned to action for this round and finished solidly in 9th place just ahead of fellow GBC rider Johnny Gallagher in 10th. Gallagher was coming off an overall 2nd place finish at the 2nd Round of the WNYOA Hare Scramble in Newark Valley, NY last weekend, making the most of his off-weekend.
DeRisi Racing rider Eric Hoyland soldiered through a rough day for a 4th place in XC2 and gained valuable points in the season championship chase. Unfortunately teammate Braden Henthorn suffered a mechanical issue that ended his day early, just a week after winning Round 2 of the AWRCS series in Wellsville, OH in the off-weekend.
Brycen Neal has been on fire as of late and once again earned the coveted Top Amateur Award on the way to winning the College A class. AJ Koontz grabbed Junior A class win number three of the season, and along with DeRisi-backed Reeves brothers is making a solid run at the class championship.
Chris Barbee broke through for his first Vet A class win, and if 2011 was any indication the competition could be in trouble if he gets on a roll. Jay Shadron returned to his winning ways in the College B class after a setback at the previous round.
Bryan Buckhannon continued his impressive march through 2012 by topping the 4×4 Open class for the 6th time in 7 races. Not to be outdone, Forrest Whorton also earned his 6th win of 2012 in the 4×4 Senior class and looks to be well on his way to yet another series championship.
BNR Motorsports team manager Ryan Smith tried his hand at Utility ATV racing for the first time ever and came away with the 4×4 Novice class win. If the smile on his face after the event was any indication it looks like Ryan will be back at it very soon.
The GBC Motorsports team will enjoy a short break before returning to GNCC action June 23rd at The Wiseco John Penton in Snowshoe, WV. Be sure to check in on your favorite GBC Riders’ progress by following us on Facebook and Twitter.
Brit Mansell Wins at UTV Rally Raid Once Again
Brit Mansell once again piloted the Octane Racing Polaris XP 900 to a UTV Rally Raid victory, this time at Round 4 of the series. Mansell jumped out to an early lead during his first lap, which turned out to be a new course lap record. Brit has been seeing nothing but success thanks in part to his GBC Motorsports Dirt Commanders, which have been handling the dusty Alabama clay well during these UTV Rally Raid races. Round 5 of the series is set for June 30th at Stony Lonesome ORV.
