GBC Motorsports Racers Take on Limestone 100 GNCC Cameron Bruce Wins Amateur Overall

Round 6 of GNCC Racing took place in Springville, IN with more than 1,100 competitors over two days of racing. The Limestone 100 race track is known to be one of the slickest and most unpredictable surfaces the riders will face each season, and heavy rains Friday night only made the already challenging course even more exciting for fans and racers alike.

Saturday morning 4×4 Pro class action was intense, with the top five riders swapping the lead numerous times throughout the 2-hour race. When the dust cleared Rob Smith was able to rally to a podium position after some mid-race troubles that left him playing catch-up. “I struggled out there today but I’m happy to get this BNR/GBC backed Can-Am up here on the box and earn some valuable championship points,” said Smith after his 3rd place performance. Bryan Buckhannon was another 4×4 Pro rider focused on salvaging as many points as possible on a rough day, and did so successfully with a 5th place finish.

Tanner Bowles topped the 4×4 A/B class for the 4th straight race.

Tanner Bowles rode his Dirt Commander clad machine to a 4th straight win in the 4×4 A/B class, further tightening his grip on the points lead. Terry Whitesides also racked up his 4th win of 2014, flexing the muscles these GBC riders have flexed so far this season in the 4×4 ranks.

When the green flag waved for the start of the XC1 race it was Jay Shadron and Jeff Pickens using the grip of their XC-Master tires and quick reaction times to put them at the front of the pack early on. BNR’s Kevin Yoho and Johnny Gallagher were much farther back and had to push their way through as the race went on. After two hours of action it was Gallagher leading the way for GBC in 9th place and Kevin Yoho just behind him in 10th.

Johnny Gallagher led the way in XC1 competition with a 9th place finish.

“It’s been a struggle so far in 2014, but I’ve been at this a long time and I know I have the best people and companies supporting me,” Gallagher said after the race. “I’ll go home, work harder, and the results will improve.” Pickens ended the day in 12th, and Shadron was able to salvage a 14th after encountering some mechanical issues late in the race.

In the XC2 division Marty Christofferson backed up his Round 4 podium with a solid 5th place ride that has him sitting in 4th place in the championship points chase. Cameron Bruce has had his share of hurdles early in 2014 but put together an excellent ride to earn not only the College A class win but also the highly coveted Amateur Overall award! We expect to see many more of these in the near future from the young rider from Pennsylvania.
